Natural Vs. Lab Grown Diamonds II

The debate around Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds is never ending! This blog will give you some tips regarding both types, guiding you through the main important points to remember before buying your Diamond Jewellery!

As mentioned in part I of this blog series, Lab Grown Diamonds (LGD) are exactly the same as Natural ones, in terms of their chemical and physical properties. In fact, LGDs are made of a seed crystal of a Natural Diamond, But in Lab conditions, to fasten the process of turning it into an actual Diamond. Hence, they get graded according to the international Diamond grading systems (4Cs), as well as, being certified from both the IGI and GIA.

LGDs have 2 special features that make them a good option for many:-

1- Price - LGDs cost much less that Natural Diamonds! Their prices are almost 60% - 80% lower, which can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars! Some prefer to buy Natural Diamonds due to their resell value, however, the truth is that a Natural Diamond loses around 30% - 70% of its value from the moment you purchase it! Therefore, the amount you lose is about the same you save/gain by buying an LGD. Also, although for less, LGDs can also be resold in the market. Actually, some jewellers only deal with LGDs and will happily buy them from you.

2-  Ethical Process - LGDs are grown under safe and peaceful lab conditions, i.e. the process is totally humanitarian, conflict free, and socially responsible. A number of Human Right Defenders prefer them, as they are not involved with heavy and harsh mining conditions, as well as labour violence.

One more thing, a wide number of jewellery shops sell LGDs, however, they do not inform the customer of this fact due to their authenticity (treated and considered the same as Natural Diamonds). In 'Ebzeem', we prefer to build a relationship of trust with our customers, and will therefore, clarify whether a diamond is Lab Grown or Natural. We try our best to always educate you regarding this area, and leave the choice for you. In the end we can always provide you with both, Natural and Lab Grown Diamonds.
