We have shared a poll on our Instagram page recently, asking our followers whether they preferred Man-Made (LGD) or Natural Diamonds. Surprisingly, the results were almost level, we have therefore, decided to share some useful information regarding this topic with you.
Well,, to start with, let us tell you this, there is NO actual difference between a Natural and a Man-Made Diamond!
They carry the same chemical and physical properties, and are both certified from the IGI (International Gemological Institute) and the GIA (Gemological Institute of America), and are graded according to their Color, Cut, Clarity and Carat Weight (4Cs).
The only thing is that Natural Diamonds are created under the pressure of Earth's crust over millions of years, while LGDs are placed in the same conditions, only in a lab setting, which makes the process much faster. In fact, LGDs are mainly created from a seed crystal of a natural diamond!
LGDs are considered real diamonds and are treated the same as natural ones, the only difference is that they are much lower in price! Hence, there has been a massive shift from consumers to LGDs due to their lower cost compared to natural diamonds which cost 50%-70% more!
